Tiki-taka is dead, tiki-tata, tiki-phata, tiki-la-taka, tiki-nalla ... !! (read marathi and hindi, Indian languages)
After Spain's embarrassing exit from the 2014 World Cup, the tiki-taka is rumored to be dead. Its being hammered down to the ground by the so called futbol pundits who show up like the 29th day of February. I am not a Spanish fan, but seriously?? How could you discount tiki-taka? Its like discounting gravity when Newton died !!
Tiki-taka is the heart and soul of the beautiful game. It was no doubt executed naively by players who are not upto the mark. Tiki-taka was slammed down by the so called total football of the dutch. But tiki-taka is nothing but the refined and more structured version of total football. Tiki-taka defines the beautiful game. It is the sports world example of a well executed symphony of notes. If tiki-taka is the symphony, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi together are the Beethoven of the footballing world. Maybe I am stretching it when I compare them, but they are the greatest composers of the game called tiki-taka. The pass needs to be timed as perfectly as the notes are timed. The ball control needs to be as sharp and crisp as the notes in a symphony. Not without a bunch of flute, clarinet, violin, drum and piano experts can a symphony be staged. Similarly not without a bunch of great football players with amazing ball control, first touch, vision and fitness can the tiki-taka be executed so as to showcase a ultimate high anyone can achieve in football.
To all those who think tiki-taka is a boring affair, I'd say so is a rap song in the same respect. A rap needs to be timed perfectly, needs to have those piercing vicious words tied perfectly with a tempo which portrays a completely superficial, callous and materialistic carnal story. Tiki-taka has a tempo and its slow, like an old bard song which tells a deep story that touches your heart. It has those piercing through balls and moments of individual brilliance similar to a vocalist who can take brilliant music to a new high.
For a physicist and an engineer, its the geometry that inspires friction less motion. For a mathematician and statistician, its the accuracy and precision combined with the probability of success. For a musician its the symphony of notes. For a car enthusiast, its the Nissan Skyline and for a movie actor its Sergio Busquets :)
